Recent news:

This summer has been extremely busy at HHR!  Here are a few of the highlights:

  • We've had over 20 students in our horsemanship classes

  • Our mentoring program continues to grow, with over 15 boys enrolled

  • We have hired a part-time therapist on site

  • Scott has been selected as one out of 100 trainers across the U.S. to train a mustang in the Extreme Mustang Makeover (see picture below)

  • On a sad note, the mother of one of our three foals died from a ruptured esophagus a month after she gave birth.

We are currently seeking out volunteer personnel for the following:

  • We are seeking two alternating part-time volunteer equine professionals.

  • We are seeking men who are interested in mentoring boys and women who are interested in mentoring girls within the context of activities such as horseback riding, fishing, etc.

T-shirts, longsleeve T's, sweatshirts, sweat pants, and hats and beanies with the HHR logo are still available!  Proceeds will go towards ranch programs to keep our services as free as possible.

The purpose of Healing Hearts Ranch is to address the specific needs of children and families who face emotional and behavioral challenges.  Whether we are working with individuals or groups, we strive to create a safe environment where emotional growth and healing can take place.  We acknowledge that horses can be helpful in the healing process, and we seek to give people opportunities to interact with horses, learn about them, and learn about themselves at the same time.  Come by and visit us - we look forward to having you!

DIRECTIONS: We are located just south of Great Bend, KS, just minutes off of US Highway 281.  From US 281, go west at Hart's corner and continue to SE 1st Avenue and turn north.  Follow SE 1st Avenue one half mile to the end of the road.  We are located on the left.
